Scar filler

Scar filler adds volume to selected depressed scars to soften the contour difference from surrounding skin. We assess depth, tethering and nearby tissue before selecting treatment areas.

ELION CARE

Its role in Elion programs

Acne scars are assessed in TextureAxis skin-texture care. For surgical or traumatic depressions, ScarAxis assesses tethering and tissue condition to determine whether volume support is suitable.

How it works

Filler restores volume in a depressed area. We consider the transition between the indentation and surrounding skin when planning treatment.

How we use it

Volume support may be considered for broad, gently sloping acne scars. When tethering or surface irregularity is also present, we plan the sequence with other treatments, including lasers.

Other concerns we assess

We review how and when the scar formed, how it changes when the skin is stretched, and previous injections or products. Photographs and examination findings help track progress.

Before your treatment

  • Bruising, swelling, pain, nodules and infection can occur. Rare vascular occlusion can cause skin necrosis or vision loss.
  • Seek immediate medical attention for severe pain, a change in skin colour or a change in vision after treatment.

Scar filler: common questions

Which scars can be considered for filler?

Selected depressed scars with a loss of volume may be considered. We distinguish acne scars from surgical or traumatic depressions and assess depth and tethering.

Can filler be combined with laser treatment?

Filler supports volume in an indentation, while lasers target skin surface and tissue changes. We select the combination and timing according to the scar and recovery.

How long does it last, and when is further treatment needed?

This depends on the product, treatment area and scar. We discuss the expected course at consultation and review subsequent changes before planning further treatment.
